BIOGRAPHY

I am currently a fourth-year student at The New School, enrolled in the Eugene Lang School of Liberal Arts Visual Studies program with a minor in Religious Studies. Born and raised in Vermont, I moved to New York after graduating high school a year early.

Over the course of my academic journey, my interests have evolved from political science and psychology to intersections of the arts, sensorial experiences, and religious value, both throughout history and current explorations. See academic projects here.

Creatively, I find myself doing many hobbies, including reading, listening to music, coding, walking, art projects, and hanging out with friends, but I especially take pride in DJing and experimenting with music. I use both vinyl turntables as well as digital controllers for DJing, as well as multiple platforms including Serato DJ Pro, Ableton Live, and has recently scratched the surface of Max MSP. Learn more about the sounds I am interested in here.

While these tasks take up much of my time, that isn’t all I find myself doing. I am also a citizen of the American neo-liberal capitalist society, and as such, have held many jobs. Most recently, these include Gallery Assistant at an art gallery in New York, Events Intern for an arts foundation in New York, Operations and Marketing Coordinator for a renewable heating and cooling business in Vermont, and Nanny for a single mother and daughter in New York. This website is an exploration of myself and my abilities, serving as an ongoing auto-biographical archive.

ARTIST STATEMENT

Lillian Boutin displays pieces of herself and her personality in her work, whether academic, professional, or beyond. With mediums embracing all of the human senses, her projects cycle through and blend both physical and digital objects and sounds.

With interests evolving from political science and psychology to intersections of the arts, lived experiences, and religious value, she continues to explore how these manifest creatively and naturally in life. Lillian is an observer, thinker, and maker, with intentions of relevance, integrity, depth, and thoughtfulness, overall curating events from her life to be events for others; moments of both introspection and extrospection.
